The LG Evo C2 48" 4K OLED TV Is an Awesome Gaming Monitor, and It's Priced at an All Time Low

Must read

Walmart (via Beach Camera) is currently offering the 48" LG Evo C2 4K OLED TV for only $779. That's the lowest price we've seen for this TV by about $70. Beach Camera is an authorized LG reseller so you'd be getting the same 1 year manufacturer's warranty as buying from LG direct. You might already be aware of the fact that the LG Evo C2 OLED makes for an excellent gaming TV, but the smaller 48" size also happens to be one of the best PC gaming monitors available. To find another equivalent gaming monitor from another brand, you'd easily have the shell out more than $1K.

The 48" model is one of LG's smallest OLED TVs (only the 42" is smaller). Because of its smaller size, it really shines as a PC gaming monitor. Because the 48" C2 has the same 4K resolution as its larger siblings (and thus, the same number of pixels), it boasts a higher pixer density so images are sharper. The 48" is also (barely) small enough to fit your gaming desk. The LG Evo C2 features HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K @ 120Hz and VRR when connected to a PS5, Xbox Series X, or RTX 40 series gaming PC as well as sub-1ms response times, ALLM, and native G-SYNC compatibility for zero tearing and ghosting. For PC gamers, it also supports 4:4:4 chroma sampling for clear, sharp text. As always, the OLED panel blows away any IPS, VA, or TN monitor in terms of HDR, black levels and color rendition.

Improvements over its predecessor

The 2022 C2 model has an improved "Evo" OLED panel over the C1. Previously reserved only for the LG G-series OLED TVs, the Evo panel offers higher brightness levels, one of the few areas that traditional LED LCD TVs have OLEDs beat.

Price comparison vs other brands

You won't find a gaming monitor under $1K that can beat the LG Evo C2 in terms of image quality. It's closest competitors are something like the 48" Samsung Neo G9 Mini LED sells for $1450 on Amazon. It has a 5120×1440 resolution, which is technically 11% less pixels than a true 4K TV. Mini LED is a different technology with its own set of advantages and disadvantages, but it is certainly not a superior technology to OLED, and definitely not worth the $550 price premium. Dell also has a 34" Alienware QD-OLED that sells for $999.99. Not only is the screen size is smaller, but it only sports a 3440×1440 resolution.
