Star Wars Outlaws Officially Revealed at Xbox Games Showcase

Must read

At Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase today, we first saw Star Wars Outlaws, a new open-world narrative-driven game by Massive Entertainment, the developer behind Tom Clancy's The Division 1 & 2.

While we did not get any gameplay shown at today's showcase, we won't have to wait long as the trailer's end revealed that the company plans to provide a full gameplay walkthrough at tomorrow's Ubisoft Forward event.

In a press release shortly after the announcement, we learned that Star Wars Outlaws is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The press release mentions that players will control Kay Vess, who along with her friend Nix will "attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen."

More interestingly, the press release touts that Star Wars Outlaws is the "first open-world Star Wars game." With Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilly noting that that Star Wars Outlaws will be "an action-adventure story filled with characters and planets both new and well-known to the Star Wars galaxy."

Back in 2021, we learned that Ubisoft would be making a Star Wars game. Following its official announcement, during an interview with IGN SVP of Walt Disney Games, Sean Shoptaw revealed that Ubisoft convinced the company to make a Star Wars game after its first meeting, which was originally to discuss Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Star Wars Outlaws is slated to launch sometime next year.
